Synopsis for "The Lady and Her Jewels"
Gangster Trigger Killian's apprehended by Green Lantern, but refuses to reveal where the haul from his diamond heist is hidden. Meanwhile, his wife intends to take their children, Joan and Jimmy, to a new town under new identities. This works until Trigger escapes from prison and a picture of him and his wife's run in the news outlets, ruining her masquerade. Soon the furnace at her children's school explodes and causes a fire. Jimmy Killian urges his panicking classmates to remember their fire drills, and punches sense into the ones who won't listen, then leads them out safely. Trigger's come to his wife's new house to find the diamonds but is captured by Green Lantern. The diamonds are revealed to have been hidden in the head of his daughter's beloved doll. Jimmy saving their children from the fire has convinced Mrs. Killian's neighbors that her family isn't bad, just because she was a gangster's wife. She declares her brave children her real jewels.

Synopsis for "A Lease On Life"
Green Lantern and Doiby break up a scuffle, and find out the victim's a banker named Forbes. It turns out his son has a severe back injury that Forbes is emptying his wallet trying to treat. After Forbes tried to stage his death to get his family a life insurance payout, he was caught by his boss, Thornton, who offered an alternative. Thornton gave Forbes the chance to die a hero and earn a hefty payout for his family by killing "the Top", the head of the city's underworld, and then killing himself. Unknown to them, Thornton himself is the Top, and plans to frame Forbes for embezzling he's been doing himself. Green Lantern rescues Forbes from the double-cross and goes to hunt down the Top, but Thornton escapes by lobbing sleeping gas at the hero and making his getaway while Green Lantern's weakened from the vapor. In light of his failure to catch the Top, Green Lantern comes up with an unconventional plan: he'll capture Thornton not as Green Lantern, but as Alan Scott. He invites Thornton on the air to tell his side of the harrowing robbery Forbes supposedly committed, then in the middle of the interview Forbes bursts in with a gun. Thornton panics and confesses everything to Alan Scott's entire listening audience. The reward money for capturing the Top is enough to complete the treatments for Forbes' son.

Synopsis for "Doiby Dickles Detective Deputies Ink"
Green Lantern and Doiby catch racket boss Waxey Wells, and the press from the incident compels two waifs, Teddy and Knuckles, to track down Doiby and ask him to teach them the art of detection. He proves a remarkably able instructor, as he's learned a lot from hanging around an ace crimefighter like Green Lantern.
Soon Waxey's back on the street when one of his boys shoots the key witness at his trial just before they can testify. One of his goons saw Green Lantern signing an agreement to help promote a charity event, which they steal and have a forger replicate Green Lantern's signature. This they use on a false agreement to leave Waxey's operations alone. When this forgery ends up in the hands of the police, they vow not to cooperate with the emerald crusader anymore. Doiby and his new apprentices grab the goon who saw Green Lantern signing and pound the truth out of him. Waxey finds out his henchman spilled the truth of their scheme to Green Lantern's partners and shoots him before he can betray anyone else. Then Waxey and his gang capture Doiby and the kids and take them to their hideout. Knuckles gets thrown through a window and gets caught on a clothesline, while the gang takes Doiby and Teddy to a cave under the building, and collapses it on them to silence the two. Fortunately, Green Lantern comes by and finds out what's going on from Knuckles, then drills their friends free with his ring before the pair suffocate. The quartet round up Waxey and his gang and clear Green Lantern's name with the police.
