Cocky, hotheaded and arrogant; all of these words could be used to describe the Green Lantern's most unruly member. Guy Gardner’s temper was so large that many times the guardians assigned a supervisor to keep an eye on him. Over time, Guy would come to know many heroes, including Batman during there first meeting he had accidentally angers a prisoner who breaks free and tries to kill while only the timely intervention of Batman saves him.

Green Lantern CorpsEdit

The tyrant known as Despero defeats the entire Green Lantern Corps, and only the lanterns who were not on Oa or were in the prison cells escaped. Guy Gardner had been placed in the cells after he had a temper tantrum earlier in the day. He then teams up with Batman and two other lanterns to fight Despero. When he questions Batman’s authority and says that he should be the leader Batman firmly tells Guy that he is leading the team. When Guy scoffs at his warning, Batman quickly knocks him out with one punch. Following Batman’s plan, Guy distracts a brain controlled Mogo but his quickly turns his attention to a rouge Sinestro who wants to blow up Mogo. The two fight with Guy prevailing just in time for G’nort to free Mogo who then blasts a tired Despero far out into Space. At the end of the episode Guy traps Sinestro in his ring and in front of the entire Green Lantern Corps Batman congratulates Guy. Guy Gardner is one of the racers in Monguls death race. He is taken out by the Joker but works with Green Arrow and Plastic Man to help destroy Monguls war moon.

  • When Batman knocks Guy out with one punch it is a reference to the JLI (Justice League International) comics where Guy tries to fight Batman for leadership only to be knocked out with one punch. G’norts response (One punch, one punch!) is also a taken from Blue Beetles response to the fight in the JLI comics. In the episode where Mongul is knocked out by the Bat Bot Guy mocks him saying “One punch, what a mooch".
