Jeryll was the Green Lantern of Sector 55, and one of the first female Lanterns to give birth during her career in the Green Lantern Corps.

Jeryll was a native of the planet Glirell, a "paradise" where the inhabitants live in peace and abhor violence. One day, she attempted to stop a fight between two citizens, but accidentally hit one of them in self defense. Word of her actions spread rapidly and reached the council, who warned her that if she used her ring for violence again, she would be banished. That same day, the Drellite invaded her planet. Seeing her people, unprepared for war, fight back against the invaders lead her to take a choice: let the Glirellian abandon their peaceful ways and engage in a suicide attack, or be the one to fight back and save her people. Thus she fought the entire invading fleet by herself, reveling on its violence. In the aftermath of the invasion, she felt she didn't belong in the peaceful planet of Glirell, so she abandoned her home and went to find her place somewhere among the stars.[1]

While rescuing a crippled space craft, she received an emergency call from her mate Jywene, who warned her that he was under attack. Jeryll, afraid her mate and daughter might be hurt, abandoned the spacecraft and went home to investigate. In the ruins of her home, she found her dead mate, and the Sinestro Corps member Kryb. Jeryll snapped when she saw her daughter Sarikyn in the hands of this monster, and attacked her. However, before she hit Kryb, a blast from the Yellow Power Ring burned her to her death.[2]

Jeryll's loyalty to the Corps didn't go unnoticed, and she earned a place in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps.[3]

Let those who worship evil's might,
