History

Hector Hall was born cursed by Hath-Set. Soulless, he became the Silver Scarab, an agent of retribution. As the Silver Scarab, Hector and Lyta were part of Infinity Inc. until Hector was murdered by Hath-Set. His spirit then went to the Dreaming. He was temporarily used by Glob and Brute to replace Morpheus. While acting as the "Sandman" he reunited with Lyta and married her.

Morpheus then returned Hector to the afterlife and Lyta to the waking world. Lyta soon gave birth to their son Daniel.

Daniel was then taken to replace Morpheus. Lyta was distraught at the loss of both her husband and her son.

Hector was reincarnated as the child of Hawk and Dove. Mordru had killed Fate and was attempting to use the artifacts entitled to Doctor Fate and kill Hector while he was still a child. However, Hector quickly aged to adulthood and stopped Mordru with the help of the JSA. In his new form, he serves as an agent of balance.

Hector was displeased with Nabu's repeated attempts to gain control, and also at not being able to find Lyta. He found a woman he thought to be Lyta, but it was actually Dove.

While battling Black Adam and his forces in Khandaq, Nabu took over. Hector found Lyta and the previous Doctor Fates inside the same pocket dimension. Together, they wrested control back from Nabu and Lyta returned to the material world. Hector resigned from active JSA duty to spend time with Lyta.

However, Hector and Lyta have apparently again returned to the pocket dimension within the artifacts after the Spectre's attack on magic-users.
