Tarkus Whin was the Green Lantern for Sector 1417. On his first day as Green Lantern, he was planning the evacuation of a planet orbiting an unstable star. Thinking he still had a few days, he was surprised when the star suddenly contracted into a black hole. Unable to draw him out of the event horizon, Whin's ring searched for a successor, settling on Soranik Natu of Korugar.
